Aline Berry |
Aline is a Northwest artist, who was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, resides in Spokane, and has a degree in graphic designs and illustration but has a lifetime of sketching. She is relatively new to the quilting world, but as a self -taught quilter and pattern designer since 2000, she has been successful at teaching her teaching her techniques to students in Spokane, the Seattle Washington area, Kalispell and Bozeman Montana. A quilt artist is really no different from and artist of any other medium, but their tools are cloth and thread. A project may develop as a sketch, and then the idea is transferred to graph paper where the pattern and design are refined with colored pencils for color choices. The challenge to the quilt artist is to create light and shadow, textures and depth, in very expressive and dramatic ways. Aline's abilities and creativity have been recognized at local shows each since 2000, and her entries have been awarded ribbons in their varied categories. 2000 Spokane Interstate Fair - 1st Place - large quilt - pieced & quilted by artist Watercolor Irish Chain 2001 WSQ Quilt Show, Spokane WA - 2nd Place Small Wall Hanging - "Three Flags" 2002 WSQ Quilt Show, Spokane WA - 1st Place Quilt Show Challenge - "Frederick's Window" 2003 WSQ Quilt Show, Spokane WA - 1st Place Crib Quilts - "Reece's Rain Forest" 2nd Place Small Wall Hanging - "A Rose is a Rose" Donated quilts: Emerson Cultural Center 2002 Annual Benefit Auction - donated "Feathered Finery" for the silent auction.
