Hans Peeters has exhibited and sold paintings throughout the United States, in Europe, Africa and Asia. His work has been shown in many museums and in numerous group shows including the prestigious "Birds in Art" show of the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum (Wisconsin). A native of Germany (b.1937), he has resided in the United States all of his adult life. He splits his time between painting and teaching at Chabot College in California as a Professor of Biology. He has served as a consultant to several government agencies as well as to National Geographic filmmakers and others, providing expert advice on birds of prey.
Mr. Peeters` paintings and illustrations are featured in many books including "The Best of Wildlife Art". His work also has appeared in popular publications such as "Audubon Magazine" and "Architectural Digest", as well as scholarly academic works. His commissions include illustrations for several bird field guides: The American Bird Conservancy`s "All the Birds of North America", "Book of North American Birds" and a "Guide to the Birds of India". In addition, Mr. Peeters has co-authored and illustrated a "Field Guide to California Mammals" and a book on the sport of falconry, which has become a collector`s item. Most recently, he completed a painting of a Golden Eagle, which will be used for a postage stamp by the Mexican Postal Service.
